I can’t tell you how much i’ve been enjoying your shows. I hope it’s people like you that we can keep in cincinnati urban core. That being said, it was EXTREMELY frustrating to hear your guest on this weeks show spout off a number of inaccurate facts. I know the reach of your show is only so big when compared to the traditional media outlets in this town, but please, refute his responses. You addressed the misinformation situation with WLW, however, that guy was clearly repeating things he’s heard, and I can tell you without a doubt that he was raised here. Those are ideas he’ll share with his friends and family. That nonsense it what can derail this project. Please tell him that ODOT and the City are differeent entities…so you cannot argue for highway construction with city stimulus money. Please clarify his misunderstandings.
Other than that I truly appreciate your show and I wish it could be played on WLW or some other giant radio station with listeners all over the city. Oh well. Keep on keeping on.
Yeah, Dave was there to talk about sports and when the topic of the Streetcar came up I decided to just go with it. Honestly, it was very interesting to me to hear the perspective of someone who clearly has only heard what 700 WLW and other major media outlets are saying about the project. I refuted his arguments about the cost and time to construct the system, and Jake blasted his suggestions for more roads. And I think by the end of the show, Dave might have even came around a little bit, because he said that we should save the Streetcar for a time when the city has more money. Although I don’t think he even realizes the amount of growth a project like this will cause… I doubt Bill Cunningham ever talks about that.
Thanks for your positive words about the show. I’m working on some additional ways to get it out to more people right now.
I’m listening now, and Dave Keaton doesn’t sound too knowledgeable on his specialties (UC Sports), much less the streetcar.
1) There is no Vine Street orientation.
2) “It’s going to be Jurassic Park comes to Cincinnati” – stay classy.
3) Instead of repeating the talking parts of Billy Cunningham, or anyone for that matter, do your own research and formulate your opinions based on that research.
4) Five years is also not an accurate construction timetable. It’s more like two years, and the impact is minimal since you’re only digging out about 10 inches worth of concrete to lay the tracks. It’s actually less intrusive than digging up the street to put in new gas or sewer lines.
