Hey, just commenting about the UC Farmer’s Market…I was a part of getting it together with Students for Ecological Design on campus, but our last one for the season was this Monday. I think we’ll try to start up again in Fall with some markets, but Summer is a little more difficult since their are less students and vendors are busier (many already comment on how many markets they go to, and the variety of new markets that are vying for their limited time). I did hear some people commenting they wished Clifton could have a market, which could be possible in that pocket park they are making between buildings on Ludlow, or maybe Telford or the Clifton/Ludlow corner near the fountain lady. Another possibility that was brought up was that there might be capacity on UC’s Medical campus, since the people working there are not seasonal like students and are generally older and more likely to be grocery/produce buying types, which would be good for vendors. But theres still the issue of finding enough vendors for a market (I think we had 6 vendors at peak of our 4 markets on campus), and if the demand really exists. I think that Medical Campus HR people would probably be onboard though as a possible health and work benefit it could provide.
Anyways, I’m a big fan of the show and have been trying to mention it when I’m talking with people about making Cincinnati a better place.
