This was a great episode...I love it when Jake is in the studio because he offers so much brilliant commentary and humorous insights. The Carnival Cruise Ship bit about Kathy Lee shashaing down the escalators is just incredible. Also loved the insights about the NE bus competitors to Greyhound and Jakes comments about the Chinatown buses. Too good. One of my favorite episodes yet.

I just wanted to make a quick comment about the discussion on the the streetcar and the possibility of using an incline to go up to Price Hill. I recently had the chance to visit Pittsburgh and rode one of the two still operating inclines they have. If somehow we could renew the historic inclines in a modern way it would be a great thing to see in Cincinnati. In Pittsburgh it has become somewhat of a tourist attraction, but was also still used by the area residents as a means of travel (given there incline dropped you off essentially right in front of a light rail stop as well). All and all it would be great to see inclines perhaps incorporated into future extensions of the streetcar, especially from an historic standpoint.

Ms Schneider, I was just trying to explain how the banners get there & how the expense was such that they will probably get pretty ratty before they get replaced.
Mr Estell, send me $12 and we'll call it even.

Regarding the banners, I said that BEFORE they were replaced recently, they were in disrepair for many months. Not that they were currently in bad shape.

Hey, I agree with you and I was trying to stick up for your point. Jake and Emily just didn't seem to agree. When I talked about this two weeks ago, I mentioned that they should try to keep the Clifton branch open because it's part of such a walkable neighborhood while the Corryville location is surrounded by a parking lot.

ok, even tho you guys completely garbled my last comment, I'll try again.
The banners on the Ludlow Viaduct and along Hamilton in Northside were replaced recently. there was a design contest in February '08. The winner got $500 & bragging rights. Apparently, the banners cost about $7000, so they are probably gonna be there for awhile before they get replaced.
The mural on the side of the building that you see heading north into the neighborhood is by Northside artist, Ursula Roma.
